Important Tips for Surviving Winter

Winter brings storms, cold weather, ice fishing, skiing, black ice, and many other things that can be fun or scary or both.

Staying safe isn't always about avoiding the dangers. If that was true, there wouldn't be any skiing. Instead, surviving winter is about being prepared for dangers. We can't stop the weather, but we can stock the pantry.

The following tips will give you the tools you'll need for winter survival - staying safe and sound. Read them before you need them; the internet won't work when the power goes out.

Making your home safe for the winter is the most important step. This is where you'll be cozied up to the fireplace with a blanket and a book when the snow is too high to get out the door. Make sure you are ready for the cold and the storms that bring it.

5) Traveling in Extreme Cold
